The best thing that we all can do is remember to keep Billy and Gina in all of our prayers. I, personally, believe this includes both their family and friends and significant people in their lives. There is no doubt that this tragic event has affected anyone who knows Billy and Gina to a great degree and has truly, at least for my own self, made one appreciate the time that God has granted us on this earth. I am as guilty as the next for taking my life for granted and this has really opened my eyes to a lot of things. As this event should to all.

It is my belief and what I have been taught that your prayer should not be limited to just a few. We should remember everyone, including ourselves, in our time of prayer and in our time of need. With that said, I would like to bring recognition to the many people who have been by Billy and Gina's side during this difficult time. The many who are not expected to be but have been. That's my own personal observation. I have never been close to a situation where people come together so amazingly and beautifully to help two very amazing people. There is not one single day that goes by since this happened that a member hasn't stopped in to conduct their own business and not ask "How's Billy doing?" It is truly the work of God and it gives comfort to know, given so many of the new circumstances in today's world, that there really seems to be, still, true followers of the Word.

This has been, to say the very least, a tragic event that has effected many of us. The best thing we can do is continue to put our faith, first and foremost, in God.

I continue to pray for Gina and Billy, and I have continually been filled with the assurance of Billy's total healing. I also feel, however, that God is using this trial to test the perseverance of His people concerning intercession and ministry. This will be a long process, and Gina will need her Christian family to be the hands of Jesus to hold her up. We need to lift her in prayer every day as she faces this trial of faith and reliance on God. I have been so inspired by the response of Madison Avenue. God led Gina and Billy to this church family for a special reason, and I pray that everyone involved will be blessed by this situation. If you do not believe in the reality of Christ and His healing grace, I urge you to contact someone close to the family so they can share the extraordinary circumstances of this entire situation. God's hand has been in every moment of the crisis, and He is testifying of Himself with every second. May God bless everyone who reads this, and I pray He draws you to a close relationship with Him through the miracles He is performing for the Patty family.

Billie's name has been added to our church pryer list as well as the names of the men that were on the mission trip. Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville is praying that God's will be done. My daughter and I have been praying for Billie and the others since we found this out last Thursday. Keep praying, God is still in charge.

Fri. April 25 10:38 PM
I’ve just returned from seeing Gina at the hospital. She told us how much she appreciates all of the visits and expressions of love.

There is no real change in Billy’s condition. He’s had some fever, but they’ve treated it with Tylenol. They’ve removed his bandages, and reduced the tubes over his face so that he looks more like himself. Gina was glad to see him looking more like himself, though without his mustache!

The doctors continue to be concerned about the swelling, especially at the base of the brain. The pressure caused by this swelling is extremely dangerous, and over time will cause permanent damage, so PRAY that the pressure and swelling are reduced.

Gina asked me to tell everyone that Billy will have surgery on Sunday, during which they will put in a trache tube. Once this has been done they will be able to begin scaling back some of the sedation he’s been on. She asked that we pray that the surgery would go smoothly. They haven’t told her yet what time the surgery will be; I’ll post the time when it’s available.

I took a laptop to Gina so she could read comments at this website, but we weren’t able to get it connected to the hospital’s wireless network; so we’re going with “plan B” – I’ve created an email account for messages of encouragement. I’ll print them out each day and carry them to her. It would be great for her to be able to look at those when she is feeling lonely and discouraged. The email address is:

    gina.patty@yahoo.com

We’ll continue to post updates to Billy’s status at this website.

Continue to pray for Billy and Gina, as well as their families.

It is Friday morning, April 25th. Billy is not showing medical improvement, but don't stop praying for him and the family. We don't know what God's will is, but Gina desires for God to be glorified in whatever happens.

Many have asked about financial help - you can give through Madison Avenue Baptist Church designated to "Patty Family." This will be tax deductible if you give this way. If you are not a member, mail it to the church at 1918 Madison Avenue, Maryville, tn 37804 - you will receive a statement from the church for your tax records.

It is encouraging as a pastor to see God's family at work in times of crisis.
