Leah spoke to Gina a moment ago. Billy’s condition continues to improve — in fact, Gina spoke today with a doctor who treated Billy the first week, and he told her he never imagined Billy would be doing as well as he is. Either sometime later tonight or early tomorrow, they expect the neurosurgeon to be by. They expect when he comes that he’ll give the order to remove the brain drain; if so, that can be done pretty much right away.
Billy does continue to occasionally run a fever. This is apparently a common occurrence for people with brain injuries, and they’ve been able to keep his temperature from reaching dangerous highs, but I ask you to pray that the fevers subside.
Gina says he is showing more and more recognition of people, and is becoming more and more expressive. Today, when Gina went in Billy was acting restless and agitated. Theresa called Gina to come over where Billy could see her, and he calmed down and smiled. Then, when she went to kiss his cheek, he puckered his lips and, as my 101-year-old grandmother used to say, “there she kissed him, on the spot” (actually, she’d say “there she kissed him, on the spot — so much for education”; I don’t know what Granny meant, but I’ve always liked it ;o).
The glory for Billy’s healing is all to God, but you have all been faithful servants to pray. May God bless each of you.
