Running late with the update; sorry about that, a minor emergency came up.
Billy continues to improve. Gina said at her 11:00 visit his eyes were wide open, and he was following people around the room. He now consistently responds to people asking him to squeeze their hands or wiggle his toes, and he moves his arms quite a bit. He is breathing on his own, and the doctor expects them to remove his “brain drain” and trach tube probably within a week — at which time he’ll get to go to a regular room.
As ICPs and pneumonia fade as concerns, another issue that has lurked in the shadows is now becoming “the main concern”: Billy’s blood pressure. Gina tells me that he normally takes blood pressure medicine, so it’s not too surprising that his BP would be up when they’ve not been treating it; in fact, up until now there have been some advantages to a higher BP (as long as it didn’t blow out), as it brought greater blood flow. Now, though, they are about to put him on his BP meds, which should bring it back down. Pray that this goes well.
We serve a mighty and awesome God, and he has really blessed us by answering our prayers for Billy. He’s still a long way from being well, though, so continue to be faithful in your prayers. Give praise to God, for “He inhabits the praise of His people”.
God bless you all.
